MONACO

Monaco, officially known as the Principality of Monaco, is the 2nd smallest sovereign city-state after Vatican City. Monaco is only 2.1 square kilometers on the French Riviera about 22 kilometers from Nice along the Mediterranean Sea. The rich and famous love to visit Monaco as it is one of the wealthiest and most expensive countries in the world. The country is divided into several districts with Monte Carlo (not the casino) as the government district and yes the Monte Carlo casino is located in this district.

The Monte Carlo opened in 1867 as a source of revenue for the state. Interesting fact: Citizens and residents of Monaco are not allowed to gamble in the casino as the principality’s leaders don't want the locals to lose their money. You must be 18 or older with a valid passport to enter the casino.

The dress code varies by the time of day!

Morning dress code: Smart casual while flip flops, tank tops, shorts and sportswear are prohibited.

Afternoon dress code: Business casual.

Evening, high stakes gambling and formal events: Formal attire.

Port de Monaco is the main harbor, home to luxury yachts, Yacht Club de Monaco, several restaurants, Prince of Monaco's Car Museum, and also serves as a viewing platform during the Monaco Grand Prix.

The Monaco Grand Prix Circuit is laid out on the streets of Monaco. The Monaco Grand Prix is held annually on the Circuit de Monaco annually late May or early June. The length of the circuit is 3.337 kilometers, with a race distance of 260.286 kilometers, 78 laps and 19 turns with one being the famous Fairmont Hairpin turn.
